Eric Porter
Vice Chair, Haqq Foundation
Eric Porter is a dedicated humanitarian, community advocate, and social services professional whose life’s work is rooted in compassion, dignity, and service. With more than a decade of experience in social work, he has helped youth find safe and stable homes, connected individuals and families with essential resources, and advocated for the care, support, and opportunities they deserve.
Recognizing the growing needs across the Detroit metropolitan area, including housing insecurity, substance abuse, mental health challenges, and other hardships, Eric expanded his work to women’s shelters, supporting those facing difficult transitions and vulnerable circumstances. As a Detroit native, he has witnessed firsthand the challenges affecting Detroit and neighboring Hamtramck, strengthening his belief that meaningful change begins by recognizing the humanity in every person and responding with action.
Guided by his Christian faith, Eric believes compassion must extend beyond religion, background, or circumstance. Whether serving families in Detroit and Hamtramck or supporting vulnerable communities in remote villages across Africa, he is guided by the conviction that every person deserves dignity, compassion, and the opportunity to live a better life.
As Vice Chair of Haqq Foundation, Eric brings deep firsthand experience, a strong understanding of community needs, and an unwavering commitment to humanitarian service. His example and years of dedication have helped inspire Haqq’s vision of faith-driven work that serves people regardless of where they live or what they believe.
To Eric, humanity comes before differences, and compassion must be demonstrated through action.
